Notable changes

This version introduces a full redesigned API for creating custom trace spans as well as an API for writing custom plugins to instrument modules so tracing information can be reported. Please check out our docs section for a full description of the changes. While this is a semver major change, we expect it will only affect users of the custom span api.

In addition to API changes, this release includes the following semver major behavior changes:

  • The databaseResultReportingSize configuration option has been replaced by the maximumLabelValueSize configuration option which applies to all label values (instead of just database results).
  • This module now uses the same authentication code as google-cloud-node API libraries. This changes the precedence of accepting auth credentials via config.credentials vs. config.keyFileName vs. the environment variable GOOGLE_APPLICATION_CREDENTIALS.
