What is Mousr

Mousr was originally introduced in 2014 as a Kickstarter and was ultimately released to backers and the public in 2015.

Mousr is a robotic cat toy with interchangeable tail attachments and a companion app to control and configure it. The device is quite high quality - it is well-made and durable. It also packs quite a bit of interesting hardware onboard. More on the hardware at Mousr hardware.

Petronics, the company that produces Mousr announced in 2020 that the companion app would be delisted and all support discontinued.

Not wanting to see this perfectly good (not to mention expensive) device go to waste, a project was started to keep Mousr alive by reverse engineering it’s communication protocol. This would allow continued use of the device through alternative methods.
