Old Business

  • Previous meeting notes
  • Islandora AGM - review report
    • Using similar format to last time.
    • Thanks to Carol and Diego for putting in their hard work.
    • Please review as the intention is to send out by end of day Monday
    • Anonymous can comment

New Business

  • Put a license on our CoC
    • Due to a few different communities (Hydra, DuraSpace etc.) using or incorporating wording from the Islandora CoC, the need for an official and open license has arisen.
    • While the Django license uses attribution, there was a question of being "viral" from raised by Mark Jordan.
    • Group voted 9 yeses to 1 abstain / neutral to use https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/ as the official Islandora license.

Interest Group Updates

CLAW

  • Danny Lamb has the day off and isn't on call.

  • Yesterday, July 6th was the first CLAW Install Sprint Meeting

  • Gavin reported that the primary focus of the call was to discuss what a minimal viable product (MVP) CLAW installation process or scripts would be. The conversation ranged from using shell scripts, Ansible deploy scripts and potentially Docker. It appears for now that the potential direction for deploy / installation of CLAW might be with using Ansible on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS. Additional sprints may include expansion into other operating systems e.g. Red Hat / Centos / Debian and use of containers e.g. Docker given their complexity.

  • Danny Lamb is going to release a summary stakeholder document with technical information for all to review and comment before the end of next week. The idea being that this document will then be used to attempt to recruit resources (developers, sys-admins, documentarians, testers etc) from various institutions for specified periods of time (sprints). All are welcome to join.

  • Melissa has held off on officially and globally announcing the Future theme as there is additional work to be done on the backend but will be shooting for a Monday, July 10th release.

Islandora Camps

  • OR2017
  • Melissa: Great event but smaller than past gatherings i.e. 350 +/- attendees.
  • Presented at the Repository Rodeo on the first day. Good session with six different repos represented Fedora, Samvera, EPrints, Invenio, Islandora and DSpace .
  • Good Q & A session as well.
  • Also presented two CLAW sessions
  • Melissa gave a general update of Claw update with:
    • an additional focus on installation and migration.
    • additional call to actions for resources etc.
  • Nick gave tech overview of Claw with the sandbox launch.
  • There was a lot of love for Islandora given during the API-X presentation
    • CLAW's micro-services architecture a very good focus in this sphere.
  • While there was a small table for Islandora, Melissa was able to give away a load of laptop stickers.

Round Table

  • Rosie

    • Have a cool module to share. https://github.com/matt474/Islandora-thumbnail-selector
      • Allows selection of the collection thumbnail. Needs additional documentation and licenses.
      • Installed on repo and working through it.
    • Still mid-migration for a lot of sites.
    • Also working on a QA type module for collection for PEI catalog cards.
    • Still spending with Claw and mapping.
  • Carol

    • Mostly trying to move content off of older systems by the fall.
    • Just creating lists of new content for digitalization.
    • A lot of maintenance over the summer.
    • Mark Jordan thanked Carol for Jared's time in the documentation and code cleanup efforts for the Move to Islandora (MIK) tool.
  • David

  • Jordan

  • Last month had an article published about their platform with a "shout out to Islandora."
