Minutes

The North British Geometric Group Theory Seminar (NBGGT) is held this afternoon in Theatre A, and all are welcome to attend.

The Nikolaus conference 2016 will be held in Aachen, 9-10 December. Aachen is the birthplace of the 30-year-old GAP project, and at least Markus and Wilf are planning to go.

The Workshop on Permutation Groups: Methods and Applications will be held in Bielefeld, 12-14 January. Colva Roney-Dougal who will be speaking.

We updated the group on what we've all been working on:

  • Chris Russell -- Implementation of E-Unitary inverse semigroups, turning semigroups into McAlister triples
  • Fernando Flores Brito -- No current task
  • Finn Smith -- Squashing bugs
  • James Mitchell -- Working towards finishing Semigroups 3.0: specifically, rewriting the kernel module, making new representations for semigroups and Green's structure. Writing grant applications and papers.
  • Luke Elliott -- Finished UndirectedTree last week
  • Michael Torpey -- Typesetting Motzkin monoid congruence research paper
  • Wilf Wilson -- Working on maximal subsemigroups research paper, reviewing Markus's pull request on DigraphEdgeLabels and beginning to work on improving support for non-regular ideals in the Semigroups package

James, Markus, Olexandr and Fernando left at 14:25 to attend Alan Logan's NBGGT talk on malcharacteristic subgroups.

We continued with our individual tasks, conferring occasionally.

Luke started work on an IsEulerianDigraph function, after some discussion of the exact definitions required.

James and Fernando returned at 15:45.

James discussed work with each of us in turn.

The meeting ended at 18:00.
