Retargeting Yakuza Animations

This article explains how to retarget Yakuza animations to be used with other armatures.

Animation retargeting

If you want to use an animation on an armature it was not made for, you need to retarget the animation. This can be done by using an animation retarget addon.

You can use any animation retargeting addon for Blender to make Yakuza animations compatible with other armatures, or convert other animations to be compatible with Yakuza skeletons, so you can export them as GMTs and use them in the game.

The recommended addon for retargeting is Rokoko Studio Live. With that addon, you can create custom bone lists and save them to be used whenever you retarget from a specific armature to another one. After retargeting the animation, you can export it as a GMT, using the retargeted armature as a base.

Using Rokoko is out of the scope of this wiki, so you should look for some animation retargeting guides elsewhere.
