Site Permit Attribute Dictionary

Variable Definition Data Entry Rule
Agency Code (C4)* A code that references the agency or organization that is the source of the site data. The site (site number and agency code) must exist in the site and water-use site files prior to associating permit records to sites.
Site Number (C1)* The site identification number. The site (site number and agency code) must exist in the site and water-use site files prior to associating permit records to sites.
Delete Record Indicator (Modify) The delete record indicator is used in modify transactions to indicate which records should be deleted from the database. On a modify operation the delete record indicator can be set to the value '$' or '' to indicate that the site permit association should be deleted. One needs to specify the site number, agency code, assigner alias name, permit type code, permit number, and a '$' or '' for delete record indicator to remove the association.
Permit Name/Number (C121)* Permit name or number. Enter any text string to be used as the permit number or name. The permit number can be used in place of the U.S. Geological Survey site numbers on output. Typically the permit numbers are unique based on assigner and permit code, however, SWUDS does not force uniqueness.
Permit Type Code (C123)* Permit type code. Enter a valid permit code. The reference list PERMIT_CD contains a list of valid permit codes. This reference list is a nationally standard list.
Permitting Agency (C122)* The agency code of the agency that assigned or issued the permit. Enter the agency code of the agency that assigned or issued the permit. The agency code must exist in the NWIS AGENCY table.
