๐Ÿ” SCANsat Tools

SCANsat provides a number of functions for viewing or determining resource concentration. A short overview of each will be given in this section.

๐Ÿ” SCANsat Big Map

The big map, found in flight, in the space center, and in the tracking station, has a toggle and selection menu for resource overlays. These provide a quick overview of the resource distribution on the planet's surface and are comparable to the planetary overlay maps. When mousing-over the map the resource concentration at that location will be shown in the readout section at the bottom.

๐Ÿ” SCANsat Zoom Map

The zoom map provides a much higher quality resource overlay, similar to that found in the stock M4435 Narrow-Band Scanner's high-resolution map. Depending on your SCANsat resource settings this can show precisely where resources are found on the planet's surface and it shares the same mouse-over readout as the big map.

๐Ÿ” SCANsat Planetary Overlay

The overlay control window allows for planetary maps to be drawn over the surface texture in both map and flight modes. These are roughly comparable to the stock planetary overlays, but also provide maps for biomes and terrain. They also have an optional tooltip when mousing-over the planet in map mode; this functions similar to the big map readout.

๐Ÿ” SCANsat Instruments Window

The instruments window provides readouts for all of the data that can be collected by SCANsat sensors, including resource concentration. Depending on your SCANsat resource settings this will show the resource concentration at your vessel's current location if the area has been scanned for that resource.

๐Ÿ” SCANsat Resource Readouts

If the Disable Stock Scanning function is selected, the resource readouts in the right-click context menu for all resource scanners will be replaced by a SCANsat module. This module requires that the current location be scanned by SCANsat sensors before giving a resource concentration value.
