Storage Scanner

The Storage Scanner is a block that can scan the surrounding area for inventories (chests, furnaces, other devices, basically anything that can hold items) and show them in a list. You can then select an inventory in that list and it will display the contents of that inventory. Scanning the environment uses energy and can take a while if you select a big radius. It also uses RF to perform this scan.

To make this storage scanner you have to use the following recipe:

The Storage Scanner UI looks like this:

The top list shows all the inventories that it could find. To get this list you need to press the 'Scan' button. It will scan a box with the radius indicated with the slider. With the slider set to 4 (as in this screenshot) it will scan a rectangular area of 9x9x9. Note that one of the items in the list is marked as 'REMOVED'. This means that there was an inventory at that location but it was later removed. If you see something like this you should perform the scan again to update the list of inventories.

If the machine does not have enough energy to complete the scan it will pause and resume as soon as there is enough energy. You can also stop the scan at any point and restart it later.

You can then select an inventory in the top list to get a list of items in the bottom list.

With the text field below you can search for items in all inventories that it knows about. It will hilight all inventories containing an item that matches a part of that name with a yellow color. In the example above it hilights all inventories that contains something that has the word 'stone' in it.

In addition to all this you can also doubleclick on an inventory in the list. That will close the window and the inventory block will be hilighted for 5 seconds (configurable) so you can find out where it is.
