"404 Not Found" error message does not appear when bookMode=true

このように存在しないファイルをロードしようとすると

Error: Failed to fetch a source document from https://vivliostyle.org/viewer/non-existing-file.html (404 Not Found)

のように "404 Not Found" のエラーメッセージが出るようになっています。
しかし、
https://vivliostyle.org/viewer/#src=non-existing-file.html&bookMode=true
のように、bookMode を指定した場合、何もエラーメッセージが出ずに、いつまでもロード中の画面のままになります。
