About Barricade

Hello! This is Barricade, a service used by community admins to keep malicious players out of their servers. Barricade aims to protect communities by streamlining the process of sharing evidence between each other, as well as protect all players, not just from those trying to ruin their experience, but also by providing them with a fair and transparent system that allows for second chances.

How it works

When a player gets banned from a community server, admins of the community in question can choose to submit a report of the player to Barricade. When Barricade receives a report, it is automatically sent to all participating communities, who will each get to review the report and decide on a case-to-case basis whether they feel the report is justified and want to preemptively ban the player from their own servers or not.

Being reported through Barricade is commonly referred to as being Barricade-banned. Barricade bans are permanent and typically imply being banned from the majority of community servers, but can be appealed. What warrants a Barricade ban is self-regulating. If enough communities believe a report provides inconclusive evidence or insufficient reason, then the report will be removed. The exact criteria are still TBD.

A key aspect of Barricade is that once a report is revoked, it will make sure all respective bans are revoked as well. Players that are Barricade-banned can see which community they were reported by, reach out, and request to have their Barricade ban removed.

Once a community makes the decision to accept a report, they are not bound to it. Players can still reach out and get unbanned from individual servers. A Barricade ban can be revoked in its entirety if enough communities accept an appeal.
