It doesn't look like there is any documentation for this feature as of yet, since it seems to be experimental (and I might be the only user of it), so I didn't need to do anything for documentation. Testing covers this area in both N-API and for regular addons. Having trouble Running the InspectorSocketServerTest locally, but was able to dig through the makefile to find a test target for the affected work.

So I think as long as this is scheduled to land, I can submit the patch earlier to Electron. If that's how you would prefer for this to land, that should be fine. The compatibility really isn't an issue in Node proper at this time.

It is, but the current implementation is unusable, so I wager it needs to land in all lines that it was deployed in. Also, for a few of my native node modules, it's not possible for them to be made context-aware without this API landing and Electron now no longer allows non context-aware modules to load. There's also a few fixes that are landing in libuv that will be critical to Big Sur adoption that without this change landing, in all lines - we won't be privy to those fixes. That will be my approach toward that discussion with the Electron team. I think reasonably, it will make sense to break ABI compatibility as an exception in this case. I'm working on generating patches for this to submit for each line of Electron that is currently broken.

I guess TL;DR on Electron, if nobody can compile for it, what does it matter if it was compatible or not?
