Installation

IMPORTANT: First, make sure your system is set up correctly using the 'Initial setup' instructions in the wiki sidebar.

macOS

1. Download the latest .dmg file from the Releases section of this repository.
2. Drag DocDown into your Applications folder.
3. To open DocDown, right click on the file and click 'Open'. This circumvents the Apple security features which prevent you from opening unsigned software.
4. DocDown will appear in your menu bar tray. Click the icon to open the preferences window (the cog button). Set the file paths for your Zotero library, and your custom CSL and .docx reference file, if you're using those.
5. Simply drag one or multiple Markdown files onto the icon, and they will be converted into Word files in the directory you specified!

Other operating systems

I've transitioned from macOS to Linux, so at some point I'll configure DocDown to work properly on Linux. In the meantime, it's only functional on macOS.
