#4459 was merged whilst the v7.3.0 release PR was pending which means the contents of the gem did not include these changes, however the git history for v7.3.0 will do if I tag things as is making it difficult to make a v7.3.1 release to include these changes in the gem.
To sort this out, I'm temporarily reverting #4459 in this PR so I can tag the release. I'll then revert this revert and start the v7.3.1 release process again.
