How to use Jira

Epics can be functional domains, functional use cases or maintenance domains. Epics contain user stories and features if they are functional epics. Epics contain tasks ONLY when are maintenance Epics. Features belong to functional epics. Features can be broken down in tasks (blocked by). Features are created from User Stories (relates to). Features can have dependencies in other features (blocked by). Tasks are either maintenance tasks (belong to the epic) or tasks that are part of a feature (blocks). Tasks are not assigned to epics unless it is a maintenance epic. Maintenance tasks are not Features. User Stories can inform Epics and Features.

How to open a bug

  • Copy the bug template into the new bug issue.
  • Fill as much info as possible in the panels.
  • Remove panels that do not apply to the bug.
  • To choose which sprint the bug should be assigned, please, identify bug type (explained in bug template) and then assign to the appropriate sprint following this rule:
    • If it is Priority one then Active sprint.
    • If it is a defect then the next milestone.
    • For the rest of the cases, put it in the Backlog.
  • Add a label to the Jira issue: bug-legacy, bug-corner-case, bug-p1, bug-defect
