NumPy's support for Python 3.8 will end by Apr 14, 2023. Given the release schedule of iohub, I think we can aim for supporting 3.9-3.11 for the first release.

Please register in this issue any reasons we might want to support 3.8 and older.

Currently scikit-image doesn't have a wheel for 3.11, but it should be available shortly.
Edit: For now this is mainly an annoyance in increased CI time to build the wheel, nothing critical.

I am all for Python3.9+ , on my end no need to support any earlier versions.

+1 for supporting only Python 3.9 and up. Our HPC uses Python 3.9 and, so far (🤞🏼 ) shared conda environments with python 3.9 have been quick to setup and use.

Scikit-image 20.0 has been released and fixed the issue.
