Nice. TIL they sha256 digest is synchroneous by default: https://github.com/aws/aws-sdk-js-crypto-helpers/blob/2480e49a114b6b18f7a1536cb65abb19f1412cd2/packages/sha256-js/src/jsSha256.ts#L49-L56
The async interface is only for compatibility with other hash implementations.

Description of changes
In order to limit the impact of updating our existing Signer to use the updated signing functions, the underlying signing functions need to be synchronous calls as well. We will revisit this in the future in a breaking change.

Tested that signing functions now generate the same output without being
