Usage

The workflow is divided into tabs. Each tab lets you create your bricks in different ways.

  • First step: in order to use the tool, go to File > Make a copy.
  • You can create all sorts of bricks, provided that they are placed in a 128x128 grid. This is the standard used in Open Surge.
  • The basic tabs are: Editor, Viewer and Export. You can create working bricksets with these tabs alone. The other tabs provide advanced functionality such as animations, as well as additional information.
  • To help you visualize your brickset, upload a semi-transparent version of your brickset image to the Viewer tab and use it as an overlay.
  • The Instructions tab explains the usage in more detail.

Wait, is it a spreadsheet?

The Quick Brickset Editor is created using Google Sheets, a spreadsheet software that runs on web browsers. You need a Google account to use it, but knowledge on spreadsheets is not required. The usage of a spreadsheet is based on the insight that bricksets are usually organized as grids, and spreadsheets are essentially grids.
