General

Affected tag(s) to be modified/added: post_office
Question asked: What type is this post office?

Checklist

Checklist for quest suggestions (see guidelines):

  • 🚧 To be added tag is established and has a useful purpose Proposal
  • 🤔 Any answer the user can give should have an equivalent tagging (SCEE quests may not be answerable in all cases, but please keep this rare)
  • 🐿️ A survey is necessary (may require knowledge of the subject, though easy answering for everyone is preferred)
  • 💤 Not an overwhelming percentage of quests have the same answer (No spam)
  • 🕓 Applies to a reasonable number of map data (Worth the effort)

Ideas for implementation

Element selection:

nodes, ways with
amenity = post_office
and !post_office

This should currently be around 94 % of all post offices worldwide.

Metadata needed:
Unsure if there are countries where there is no distinction.

Proposed UI:
Normal multi-selection with three options

Possible follow-up quest

  • Which postal service providers are offered here? post_office:service_provider - Multi selection (with brand logos)

Just to have the values here in this item from its wiki page:

  • post_office=bureau - Full post office which is operated by the postal service provider. E.g. in france known as "bureau de poste".
  • post_office=post_annex - (Full) Post office which is operated by private/ for the postal service provider. Some postal services can be restricted (e.g. financial transactions). E.g. called in France "Agence postale communale", in Germany "Postagentur".
  • post_office=post_partner - A relay point in shops or amenities for a limited amount of postal services like letters, parcels, packets provided as a complementary business. E.g. called in France "Relais poste commerçant", in Germany often "Paketshop".

Does anyone have any ideas for meaningful strings?
The explanations of @HolgerJeromin are very good, but probably much too long, aren't they?

The explanations of @HolgerJeromin are very good,

They are copy and paste from wiki.
