Cherry Doom 2.0.0, released August 5th, 2024. This version is up to date with Nugget Doom 3.2.0 and Woof! 14.5.0.

  • Save version has been changed to Cherry 2.0.0
  • WAD stats version has been changed back to 1

Warning!

This release removes the attempts tracking functionality. If you want to keep your existing stats intact, make sure to back up the cherry_doom_data folder!

New Features

  • Mute Inactive Window setting
  • Floating Powerups setting
  • Rocket Trails setting (customizable via the Rocket Trails Interval and Smoke Translucency settings)
  • Crosshair > Disable On Slot 1 setting
  • Crosshair > Detection of Targets in Darkness setting
  • Mouselook option for the Stretch Short Skies setting
  • Setting to adjust intermission kill percentage to follow UV max speedrun requirements (CFG-only: inter_accurate_kill_count)
  • Hints for some disabled menu items

Changes from the following Nugget Doom releases have been merged:

    • Support for Woof! 14.0.0 saves missing in Nugget Doom 3.0.0 and up has been added
  • 3.1.0
  • 3.2.0, note:
    • Stats tracking can be disabled for custom skill games using the new Disable Stats Tracking setting
    • If not disabled, the stats tracking system converts the custom skill level to one of the vanilla difficulties by checking chosen Thing Spawns (+ ITYTD and NM specific modifiers)

Changes

  • New icon!
  • Some features added in previous versions have been removed:
    • Cherry's extended HUD color customization, except for colors for Low/Ok/Good/Extra values, to streamline the user experience
    • Motion Blur setting, due to the performance hit it causes
    • Damage Shake Effect setting, in favor of Nugget Doom's Flinch Upon Damage
    • View Shake Intensity setting, in favor of Nugget Doom's Explosion shake intensity percent setting
  • Separate options for Health & Armor and Weapons widgets on the intermission screen have been introduced
  • Minor menu color changes:
    • Selected setup menu tabs: Yellow > Green
    • Setup menu titles: Yellow > Red
  • The Movement Widget is now disabled in strict mode
  • Most setup menus have been rearranged (utilizing the new scrollable subpages feature)
  • Items percentage is now 100% on maps without items
  • Blood amount now scales with the amount of damage dealt

Bug Fixes

  • Widgets disappearing from the intermission screen when exiting setup menus
  • Backdrop Darkening and Overlay Darkening items not being disabled properly
  • Widgets overlapping on the intermission screen when Nugget HUD is enabled

Stats Tracking & Level Table

This release introduces many changes, fixes and additions to the Level Table and the stats tracking system, all of which are listed below, separate from other changes for clarity.

New Features

  • Setting to toggle stats tracking (CFG-only: lt_enable_tracking)
  • Command line parameter to disable stats tracking (-notracking)
  • Setting to toggle tracking kills and time for maps not beaten from a pistol start (CFG-only: lt_track_continuous)
  • Setting to toggle resetting stats for the current level upon beating the level on a new best skill (except Nightmare) (CFG-only: lt_reset_on_higher_skill)
  • Level Table Stats Format setting (CFG-only: lt_stats_format)

Changes

  • Removed attempt tracking
  • Some color and formatting changes have been made to the Level Table:
    • Skill names are displayed instead of numbers
    • All valid times are displayed in white
    • Various changes to the Summary screen
  • Stats tracking now ignores WADs without maps when creating data folders for stats files
    • This means that existing stats.txt files may require to be moved between cherry_doom_data subfolders for Cherry Doom to detect them
  • The Level Table is now inaccessible in multiplayer
  • Invalid stats files are now non-fatal
  • The Level Table now displays all loaded maps

Bug Fixes

  • Doom 1 maps from PWADs being listed on the Level Table when loaded with the Doom 2 IWAD and vice versa (see Maps of Chaos)
  • Level Table's Summary screen counting unavailable maps towards the totals
