• user@host identification when not local
• distinguishes between user and root prompt
• inverts prompt on non-zero exit code displayed on the right
• shows activation of virtualenv on the right
• shows git status on the right, lazily updated
• basename of current directory and full path upon change
• uses contrasting colours to easily spot separators
