Sounds like this might be of use to you. It uses the puppet server_gem provider to install the gem using (/opt/puppetlabs/bin/puppetserver gem...). The module is written by PuppetLabs themselves. |

I needed to override the provider when I wanted to include hiera-eyaml because I'm using puppetserver.
