I think the ring dependency is coming from rustls package. Jan Piotrowski points to as similar issue in: rust-minidump/rust-minidump#855

Spelunking around in the ring issues, brings us to this:

which then has a comment linking to briansmith/ring#1514 (comment)
which includes a modified branch that one could potentially use to overcome this, maybe.
