This change is a quality-of-life improvement for gender nonconforming people to make us feel a bit more at home, for me, there's not much more to it; I don't go around looking for stuff like this to make PRs for, I just come upon it [0].

Do you want to make a few people's lives just a bit better for little-to-no effort? I do, and that's all I'm trying to do with this: I don't want to "turn you gay" [1] nor am I trying to erase white cishet [2] men; I just want to get on with my life knowing I've helped others.

[0] In this case, I discovered this on the orange site and I'm pretty sure this is my first PR of this nature.
[1] That is probably impossible.
[2] Cisgender and heterosexual, a.k.a. most of the programmer population.
Sidenote: It'd be nice if you were more clear: telling me to "just stop" without explaining why isn't a very good opening to an argument. Explain why you don't like it.

Where do you get your information / news? Can you verify it elsewhere? (A habit of mine is to DuckDuckGo the same piece of information, but staying unbiased so results from both sides can appear. Not Google since they probably "customize" your search results)

TBH, don't care about racism, i mean, most of the world seem to hate russians anyways, so why should i care?

Upd: tho, being enter nation or race here != beign mentally ill, imo. (Yes, I'm stating that all those non-binary, trans and other all-colors-of-rainbow people should be visiting therapists, and those, who wont benefit in any way from selling them drugs/medications or rainbow-colored clothes)

as a trans person, i do indeed visit a therapist and visit trained professionals, as any sane person would know, you can't just rely on meds to stay sane, you need someone to talk to as well

Gender-related discussion or not, using "they" just makes more sense. It's much more efficient than saying "his or her" as some have pointed out here and it just feels more gramatically correct. I don't get why this PR hasn't already been merged and people are instead arguing

1. There is no biologically intersex people. You are always are born with either a penile or a vag, XY or XX 2. They take hormones. Its not what their body produces, and i saw a lot of ppl who switched back and forth and then said it was a mistake and now their body is really screwed up because of those medications. 3. words like transphobia and homophobia in this case usually mean hate instead of the usual meaning of fear. take, for example, arachnophobia means you're afraid of spiders. Transphobia and homophobia usually are instead used with a definition that someone is opposed to LGBTQ+ people, rather than being afraid of them.
also, I really doubt debating this PR will really make a difference at this point. The author appears to have abandoned this, so there's not even a good chance this PR will ever get merged.

this is not about LGBTQ+ issues(aka, our entire existence for some reason), it's about us not being erased. LGBTQ+ also was not created 10-15 years ago; the ancient Maya civilization and many others recognized a third gender(see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Third_gender#Mesoamerica) and other queer identities have been respected in other ancient civilizations(https://www.worldhistory.org/article/1790/lgbtq-in-the-ancient-world/).

But that's the thing; it is. Not a majority of people are queer-identifying in tech, however a large number of people are and this change both doesn't affect you and if anything will be beneficial.

Okay. I didn't really want to get into this but saying that because of mentally ill people you have literally started hating their group is a massive problem and this is equivalent to saying directly to multiple black people's faces, "Because of mentally ill black people, I've developed a mental disorder called raiscm, like misanthropy. that is, hatred and distrust of black people." As you can see, that definitely wouldn't be okay, and so this is not okay either. Also, enjoy being blocked and reported.

Even despite all of this, even if somehow(hint: it's not) you are right, using they is still more efficient and shorter. This didn't need to turn into a dumpster fire; you queerphobic people turned it into one.

@tuhdo can this please be merged? no matter your stance on queer people(which I would like to know in case I should avoid this at all costs because I don't want to support queerphobic people), as I just said this is shorter and not a big change.
