Tectonic maps for data analysis applications in solid Earth science
Presenting earthquake data as a data product using javascript, html, leaflet, and more.
Earthquake and Tectonic Plate Visualization using Leaflet, The United States Geological Survey (USGS) was responsible for providing scientific data about natural hazards, the health of ecosystems and the environment, and the impacts of climate and land-use change.
Utilizing Mapbox and GeoJson data, the project visually displays the live differences between the magnitudes of earthquakes all over the world for the last 7 days. The app also includes different tile layers to depict the relationship between the location and frequency of seismic activity and tectonic plates.
Using my knowledge of JavaScript, Leaflet.js, geoJSON, and d3.json I created several overlaying maps to create a visually stunning display of the magnitude and location of earthquakes around the world.
The purpose of this project is to build a map that tracks not only the earthquakes for the past 7 days, but the magnitude as well. The map also includes pop-up information for each incident.
