There is now support for mapping the owners of content and also the Show Tabs setting for Workbooks. This will make it easier to move content from one site/server to another and keep the owners and visual settings for Workbooks. “Generate CSV file of site’s inventory” will now also download information about subscriptions, schedules, and extract refresh tasks.

Installing TabMigrate on your Windows machine:
1.Download the ZIP file (v1.13_2017_05_26_TabRESTMigrate.zip)
2.Expand the ZIP file into a local file system directory. (You must do this for setup to work)
3.Run setup.exe

TabMigrate now (by default) creates a *.info.xml for every Workbook and Data Source that is downloaded. This file sits alongside the Workbook (twb/twbx) and Datasource (tds/tdsx) files it is associated with.

  • The *.info.xml file contains useful metadata including: (i) Whether the Workbook had Show Tabs chosen, (ii) The name of the owner of the Workbook or Datasource when it was downloaded.
  • When content is uploaded, the uploader looks for the presence of these *.info.xml files and gets the metadata in them. After a successful publish of a Workbook or Datasource it attempts to change the owner of the Workbook/Datasource uploaded to match the name in the *.info.xml file on your file system. (If no such user exists on the target server/site, TabMigrate will make note that you can see and move on – the content is still published)

There are checkboxes in the UI to control this behavior

  • The “Export site contents” screen has a “Generate files with content metadata” checkbox
  • The “Upload from file system” screen has an “Attempt content ownership assignment” checkbox
NOTE: TabMigrate presently DOES NOT change any permissions on uploaded content. After you have uploaded the content you need to manually set whatever permissions you wish the content to have.

TabMigrate_Setup v1.12, TabMigrate now supports assigning Workbook and Datasource ownership on publish. TabMigrate also now can download subscription and views information for a site.

Installs TabMigrate on your Windows machine.
1.Download the ZIP file (v1.07_2016_08_25_TabRESTMigrate)
2.Expand the ZIP file into a local file system directory. (You must do this for setup to work)
3.Run setup.exe

Summary: You can now download Workbooks from a Server/Site and upload them to another Server/Site and the ShowTabs setting will be retained

Notes: This release adds support for downloading Workbook metadata that indicates whether the Workbook as “ShowTabs” selected. This is controlled by a checkbox on the Export Site screen; the checkbox is ‘[X] Generate files with content metadata’. It is ON by default. When ON, each downloaded workbook will also get a similarly named “*.info.xml” file generated next to it on your local file system. This XML file will contain whether or not ShowTabs was set on the server the content was downloaded from. (We’ll store more metadata in here in the future)

When publishing a Workbook to the server, TabMigrate will look for the existence of a “*.info.xml” file. If the file is present, TabMigrate will pull the ShowTabs True/False setting from it and include it in the publish process.
