Here's a list of commands that can be used to specifically control the playback and browsing of the TV Shows / Box sets available on the Emby server.

List TV shows

Gives a list of TV Shows that are available to be played by the user, you can then use either the number of the TV Show or the name to play it.

Example Phrases

“List TV shows”
“List all box sets”
“Read available TV series”
“What TV programs are available”

Example Response

There are 45 TV shows available

Movie [2] Game of Thrones

Play TV shows

Plays the specified TV Show or number from the point where you last watched an episode, this negates having to express specific seasons and episodes and lets you quickly start watching the show from where you left off.

Example Phrases

“Continue watching the box set lost”
“Play TV Show Game of Thrones”
“Resume watching the series A touch of frost”
“Watch Box Set number 4”

Example Response

Playing season 2 episode 1 of Game of Thrones, starting from 32 minutes, there is 17 minutes remaining.

Watch specific episode

Although the above command is great for continuing a series you may want more granular control over the episodes and seasons you want to watch, so alternatively you can specify a season and episode to watch.

Example Phrases

“Watch Season 1 Episode 6 of 24 Legacy”
“Continue watching episode 4 season 2 for the TV show Blackadder”
“Resume watching A touch of frost, season 6 episode 1”

Example Response

Playing season 1 episode 2 of The Avengers, there is 26 minutes remaining.

Go to series

Of course the above commands are quite a mouthful and can lead to mind and mouth fatigue, and unless you know how many episodes and seasons you have of a box set, may not find what you’re looking for, if you want to browse the box set you can do so as follows with the Go To command.

List Seasons

Once you've selected a TV series using the above you can then query the available seasons.

“List all seasons”
“List all seasons for the series The Young Pope”

Go to season

You can go to a season of a TV series at any time by stating a command similar to those below, from there you'll be able to list or play individual episodes.

“Go to season 2 of Battlestar Galactica”
“Go to Dowton Abbey season 5”

List Episodes

List the individual episodes on a given season or the season last queried with the following commands

Play Episodes

Plays the specified episode from it's last viewed position.

Playing season 2 episode 3 of The Young Pope, starting at 10 minutes, there are 37 minutes remaining.

Episode Navigation

At any time while watching an episode of a series you can navigate to the next or previous episode with any of the following commands. If you are on the last episode of a season the next episode will be the first episode of the next season, and vice versa for the first episode of a season.

“Go to the next episode”
“Skip to the previous episode”
“Watch last episode”
“Play next episode”
