This repository contains our extended GIS lesson, which combines materials from our first and third lessons of our GIS series. This lesson introduces some basics of working with spatial data as well as producing basic maps with ggplot2. It was originally adapted for the University of Chicago's Chapin Hall, and so uses data from the City of Chicago.
At the end of this lesson, participants should be able to:

R - Create basic web maps using
leaflet - Convert point data stored in a
.csvtosfobjects - Explore spatial data using the
mapviewpackage as well asView() - Compose map static layouts using
ggplot2

The packages we'll need for today can be installed using:
install.packages(c("tidyverse", "here", "knitr", "leaflet",
"mapview", "rmarkdown", "sf", "usethis"))You can download this lesson to your Desktop easily using usethis:
usethis::use_course("https://github.com/slu-dss/gis-extended/archive/master.zip")By using usethis::use_course, all of the lesson materials will be downloaded to your computer, automatically extracted, and saved to your desktop. You can then open the .Rproj file to get started.
