Looks like this is a known Electron bug: electron/electron#11106

This also happens on ubuntu/gnome 19.10 (Signal version v1.27.4). Issue significantly impacts usability for me

After investigating I see that workaround, described in electron/electron#11106 (comment) is not work, so Electron 6.0 release produce new regression, and I post separate issue about this: electron/electron#22213

Hope that it will be fixed quicker in separate thread!

I would like to clarify the steps to reproduce. pressing alt then shit then releasing alt first will cause the issue, the issue does not occur when releasing shift first.

this issue is originating from electron as can be seen in these issues:
electron/electron#11106
electron/electron#22213

The two upstream electron issues were closed, here is the new one.

Looks like upstream fixed this almost six months ago. Does this mean Signal should be fixed soon?

I am on 5.22.0, and I don't observe said bug anymore

Thanks @galets. Weird. I'm on 5.24.0 and I still see this bug. I don't entirely understand electron. Do I have to rebuild signal with something specific? FWIW signal was only built four days ago anyway.

@protist perhaps I was too fast to call this issue fixed. I observe it on 5.23.1
