New ROS 2 release including the latest fixes?

would it be possible to do a release of the repo, including #44 ? Downstream users are experiencing problems that would be fixed if the fix was released, see ros-controls/ros2_controllers#1917 (comment) .

For CMake 4.0 compatibility, perhaps it would be useful to also have #45 or some variant of it.

I guess the most important one is rolling, as eventually over the years all distros will branch from that, and will have the latest update. The others are a nice to have.

Thanks for the ping! The changes looked fairly small and safe, so I bumped 1.16.0 to 1.16.1. Jazzy, Kilted, and Rolling are all on 1.16, so I released 1.16.1 into all of them.
