👩💻 Hello, my name is Rebeca, and I'm a Data Scientist based in Vancouver, BC, Canada. I'm affiliated with the BC Centre for Disease Control as a Health System Impact fellow. Projects I get excited about most involve Bayesian inference and ML models to learn new knowledge from complex data. In my free time, when I'm not learning a new tool or coding a new project, I'm walking with my dog 🐶 or studying piano 🎹.
- 🖥️ I'm currently leading three projects:
- 🦠 Investigate Salmonella spread within BC's poultry industry and assess the impact of a new veterinary antimicrobial application on reducing disease burden in chickens and humans.
- 🏭 Integrate wastewater data of viral pathogens in BC in a pipeline to predict disease outcomes.
- 🐓 Generate a geospatial risk map of avian flu spillover.
- 😄 Pronouns: She/Her/Hers

I'm currently working on a project to understand the effects of climate on the spread of arboviruses in tropical regions. In this work, we are applying Bayesian inference using PyMC.
-
I'm also developing a dashboard to track stock and index trends, and estimate metrics such as average volume, volatility, P/E ratio, etc.
