the first message on both repositories was DMCA takedown, then for some reason it was changed.

Yea but if its an ongoing struggle its not really worth it. I mean if anyone can upload something to it then that's where the problem lies. Especially people in other countries do not care about DMCA.

I am here wondering what is going on as well. I was hoping to see my changes yesterday take effect today. Curious why EPG was removed when it uses public data. Hopefully one of the maintainers can comment soon.

I think this is a wonderful idea to create such a database and guide and is long overdue. I think there are a few things I must point out though.

First put "TOS" of any stream providers aside as I do not even believe that TOS stated on a stream provider's web page would even hold any water when viewing a stream directly, as you may have never accessed that page at all.

If I am a content provider Like CNN and I do not take measures to protect my stream (in other words have a stream that is encrypted or requires some sort of key or authentication), how can I say that someone viewing said stream directly is doing it in an "illegal" way? After all it is on the Internet and that very stream is linked to from my web page at cnn.com where you can watch it.

If I provide a Legitimate re-stream of a service like YouTube TV might provide ESPN to users for a fee, then the same would also seem to apply as above.

The only streams that should be getting anyone in "trouble" are the gray market streams which yes many times are difficult to distinguish from a legitimate stream but often times there are ways to tell. It may not be easy.

Now just like many people believe Kodi is all about Piracy, here we have a similar kind of issue. To date it is very difficult, or impossible to list a "kodi" device on ebay because they ASSUME (yes because they are asses) that Kodi=Piracy. However, Kodi also can be used for legitimate content like Amazon, Netflix, Paramount Plus ,etc. This "bad reputation" that Kodi has is a result of the fact that it can and has been used for piracy.

I would venture to guess that this kodi ebay example is similar to what has happened here and Github (owned by Microsoft) has taken this action to protect itself from the evils of gray market streams whether justified or not.

It is very sad if this is the case.

@markosjal This is exactly the same argument I've used in successful DMCA counter-claims. Below is a copy of the most recent counterclaim I submitted:

No infringing content is stored in this repository. The repository simply contains user-submitted links to publicly available video stream URLs, which to the best of our knowledge have been intentionally made publicly by the copyright holders.

Furthermore, even if the content is in violation of copyright laws, simply linking to the content is not a valid reason to submit a DMCA request. Linking does not directly infringe copyright, because no copy is made on the site providing the link. See Perfect 10, Inc. v. Google, Inc., 508 F.3d 1146, Perfect 10, Inc. v. Amazon.com, Inc., 508 F.3d 1146 (9th Cir. 2007), Flava Works, Inc v. Gunter, 689 F.3d 754 (7th Cir. 2012) and Online Policy Group v. Diebold, Inc., 337 F.Supp.2d 1195, 1202 n.12 (N.D. However, in this case, it doesn't look like a DMCA takedown but instead seems to be something else. I've already created a ticket with Github to get clarification.

On my testings @freearhey it would take more than 5 hours for at least half of the EPG XML files... It's not quite viable, and I don't know from there the slowness could be on. Maybe certain code parts are processing really slowly, I don't know.

Running the EPG grabber offline is easy and more flexible than the old downloads but will only work until the website I am grabbing changes,

Two questions for the developers. Are there any instructions for writing/editing the scripts? Is it done manually or do you have a script/workflow to automate the process?

So far here's how I've done mine :

• Added a GitHub token to my Jenkins server
• Added the GitHub + CI Skip plugins, so that it can connect to GH + that I can prevent looping the CI on each commit.
• Did a fork of iptv-org/epg
• Added a webhook so that Jenkins can ping the GH server, and the other way too.
• Created a node that pointed to the repo + added my credentials through it.
• (optional, better would be to launch directly the scripts Arhey done to load everything up, if that's your goal) Added a script that launched a python script that looped through the different sites (even if it was badly made, lol)
• Asked Jenkins to push the whole to the "master" node, so that the EPG could be refreshed.

What i'm doing isn't a permanent solution. It is hosted in a server that costs credits for me right now, and as of now it's running. The changes @freearhey made are temporary until we find a solution concerning this system.

Man, just use a paid service like IPTVBoss, well worth it. IPTV-org epgs were awesome while it lasted, unfortunately I don't think it's ever coming back.

Due to the current GH Actions liftdown, yes. Doing this costs us hosting + computation time, and we are not onto this kind of subject right now. You still can use our epg-scraper and scrape the EPGs on a Linux server that crons all of the available websites every day.

Yeah I hear ya and I completely understand + appreciate everyone's work over the years — though I and several others were willing to financially support a migration to another host. Alas it's time to move on to other services that are easier to use for noobs like me..
