Crazy Chess is a chess variant that incorporates premove as a core mechanic, introducing strategic and psychological depth to the game.
- Character Selection: Before starting a match, players choose a character with unique abilities.
- Premove as a Game Mechanic: Players can execute premoves, but once committed, they cannot be canceled.
- Point System: Successfully executing a premove grants the player points.
-
Ability Activation: Points can be used to activate character abilities
- Example: Spending 3 points to summon a pawn.
Premove not only allows for faster play but also introduces psychological strategy by revealing how many moves an opponent has queued.
For example, if your opponent has queued four premoves, you can anticipate their actions and adapt your strategy:
- Choose not to premove, playing moves one by one to disrupt their plan.
- Exploit their commitment by capturing a piece or blocking key squares to gain an advantage.
- Standard chess time formats will be preserved (e.g., 3+2 Blitz, 10+5 Rapid).
- The win condition remains checkmate, though certain character abilities may alter this rule.
Currently, two character concepts are planned. Each character will have two abilities, but this may be expanded to three in future iterations.
-
Ability 1: Spend 3 points to summon a pawn at a designated location after 3 turns.
- If a piece occupies the tile at that time, the summon fails.
- Ability 2: Spend 12 points to resurrect a fallen ally and place it immediately on the board.
- This character will have abilities that upgrade pieces, such as:
- Upgrading a pawn to attack forward as well as diagonally.
- Additional upgrade mechanics are still under consideration.
The game is still in conceptual stages, and more details will be refined as development progresses. Stay tuned for updates!
