Branches: a Game of Choice and Agency is the product of a semester long senior comprehensive project to make a game that gives the player a feeling of agency through meaningful choice.
Read more about the project and its development in the Final Report.
To see the game's script, go to the project's Script Page.
The server that ran the Script Page is no longer functional, I will fix it one day when I have the time and resources.
There are two ways to play Branches:
- by downloading the latest release on the game's Releases page
- by cloning and loading the Unity project in the game's Github repo
To open the Unity project, you will need:
https://id.unity.com/account/new
You will need to create an account and verify your email to use the Unity Editor. You will have the chance to do this from Unity Hub once it is installed
After you've created a Unity ID, install the Unity Hub. This is where the versions of the Unity Editor are installed.
Once it has installed, open it and begin activating your license.
This is done in different ways in different versions of the Unity Hub, follow this guide to activate your license:
https://support.unity.com/hc/en-us/articles/211438683-How-do-I-activate-my-license-
Next, navigate to the Installs tab on the left of the window. Press "ADD" or "Install Editor" to install a new version of the Unity Editor
On this popup, click on the Archive tab and go to the "download archive" link (https://unity3d.com/get-unity/download/archive)
On this page, select the "Unity 2020.x" tab, and scroll down to find Unity 2020.3.19, and click the big, green Unity Hub button in its download links
clone the project into whatever directory you want to save it in
git clone https://github.com/nickesc/BranchesGame
Back in the Unity Editor, from the Projects tab, click open and find the project directory.
Unity will begin to open the project; this may take some time.
Enjoy!
