Does the --find flag return the exact files shfmt will be formatting?

If you run shfmt . it will work in the sense that multiple shell scripts will be formatted.

Is the output of shfmt --find . the exact list of files that will be operated on?

Can we depend on using --find as being a dry run test to see which files will be accessed? It seems to be based on calling it with a few directories and sub-directories but wanted to confirm.

Thanks, great tool btw. I've been using shellcheck for over half a decade and was very happy to discover shfmt. Finally my life is complete to have found a dependable linting and formatting experience for shell scripts.

This doesn't work as planned btw. Check it out:

shfmt --find . .zprofile

In this case if you run it without --find it will recursively operate on all shell files it finds and .zprofile will be formatted. That profile file isn't normally picked up because it has no shebang or extension so we need to explicitly add it.

The discrepency here is --find will not show .zprofile in its output. Do you want me to report that as a bug?
