Tricot Malin (smart sweater in French) is a smart t-shirt that makes it possible to interact with the digital environment that surround us through the use of simple gestures.
To capture and identify the wearer's movements, the initial prototype will make use of inertial measurement units, whose outputs will be used as inputs of a movement detection algorithm being executed in an Arduino microcontroller board. When a gesture is identified, its corresponding action is then passed by Bluetooth to a server running openHAB, a software that offers a uniform interface for home automation. The devices or systems to be controlled are configured and integrated into this software.
The t-shirt also allows the environment to intelligently adapt to the wearer's state. For example, the attached electrocardiogram sensor makes it possible to dynamically choose a song to be played according to the wearer's heart rate. A humidity and temperature sensor enables the tuning of a house's temperature until the wearer finds itself in a comfortable situation.
