My name is Joel and I'm currently a Senior Staff Software Engineer at Spotify (been there since 2016), based in NY.
At Spotify, I've worked mostly on building big and ambitious monetization platforms from the ground up:
- Built Spotify Ad Studio (a self-serve marketplace for audio ads) from $0 - tens of millions in revenue at that time
- Building a self-serve, paid content promotion business in Spotify for Artists that lets artists promote their work, from $0 to tens of millions in revenue
I believe in situational leadership, eating last, sponsoring others, and leading by example.

- Previously: all things JavaScript, and Java when I'm forced to.
