Cherrypick main into stable-3 for 3.2.0 (ansible-collections#531)

SUMMARY Cherrypicking commits from main into stable-3 Note: I was not able to cherrypick the README re-format because it references only supporting ansible 2.15. I was also not able to cherypick the lookup plugin changes, since those require python3.7+ on the control node and ansible 2.14 allows for python3.6 Please let me know if you have any thoughts or suggestions.
