  • VSCode Version: Version 1.19.2 (1.19.2)
  • OS Version: macOS 10.13.1

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Open a VSCode instance then open a folder within VSCode. Choose a file inside the folder then open it. Let cursor focus on the file. From menu choose View/Explorer. This time Explorer is opened and focus is on the explorer

  2. Open a VSCode instance without folder opened. Open a new file. Let cursor focus on the file. From menu choose View/Explorer. We see Explorer is opened while focus is still in editor window.

Expected behavior: In both case focus is on the sidebar.

Does this issue occur when all extensions are disabled?: Yes

@xc1427
Can you try to reproduce with our nightly insider builds? You can give our preview releases a try from: https://code.visualstudio.com/insiders/

I wonder if this is fixed via #41377
