Kiota and NET 9

We are upgrading our projects to NET 9. Will there come a version of Kiota that supports NET 9 in the near future?

Thank you for using kiota and for reaching out.

Are you asking for .net9 support for generated CSharp/dotnet clients? or for the kiota tool itself (if you install it as a dotnet tool)? (or maybe something else?)

For generated clients, we recently fixed the version ranges in the kiota libraries, and the generated code was already compatible. So as long as you update your dependencies, you should be good to go.

I'm using Kiota in our build pipleine using: dotnet tool install --global Microsoft.OpenApi.Kiota

I'm guessing in that context you ONLY have the net9 SDK installed. Are you getting an error message or something?

Thats correct. Get the message:

App: /root/.dotnet/tools/kiota
Architecture: x64
Framework: 'Microsoft.NETCore.App', version '8.0.0' (x64)
.NET location: /usr/share/dotnet

The following frameworks were found:
9.0.0 at [/usr/share/dotnet/shared/Microsoft.NETCore.App]
