Microsoft PowerToys version

0.86.0

Installation method

WinGet, PowerToys auto-update

Running as admin

No

Area(s) with issue?

Keyboard Manager

Steps to reproduce

To map MacOS keymapping I have configured the following key remappings:

  • Alt (left) -> Ctrl (left)
  • Ctrl (left -> Alt (left)

In addition to this, because I am used to the physical "Alt+Tab", I have configured the following shortcut remappins:

  • Alt + Tab -> Ctrl + Tab
  • Ctrl + Tab -> Alt + Tab

Current configuration:

✔️ Expected Behavior

Shortcut remap "Alt + Tab" <-> "Ctrl + Tab" to work correctly 100% of the time.

❌ Actual Behavior

After laptop restart this configuration would work correctly. Specifically, I still can use the physical "Alt + Tab" shortcut, although logically it is "Ctrl + Tab".
But after some hours of work, this behavior will break. The Key remap (Alt <-> Ctrl) will work correctly. But the shortcut remap will stop working. I would have to press physical "Ctrl + Tab" (logical "Alt+Tab) in order to see the App Switch menu.

This can only be solved by a machine restart or by relaunching PowerToys
