The extenders for stretchy arrows in Safari are misplaced, and so don't show properly. For example, \xrightarrow{abcdef} will only show the arrow head, not the extender (it is placed outside the clipping region for the extender).

It appears to be a WebKit bug that doesn't place the character properly on the baseline if it is in a box of height 0, so a solution is to make sure the height is not 0.
