Hi @mcepl what distribution are you trying to make it work on? I would like to support the latest releases of the major distros but need to keep track so I know when it's safe to switch back :)

RHEL-7. Not that crazily old, I would say.

ok. makes sense. Sadly looks like rhel will not "fix" their git version until the next major but oh well it should not matter much.
