We discussed this in Slack a couple of months back, but I can't find the thread anymore.

We agreed to use go-codec-dagpb instead of go-ipld-prime-proto, and we had to make a few changes to it to closely match go- merkledag's behavior.

Assuming all goes well with the IPLD in IPFS merges and testing, we should then deprecate this repository. It doesn't seem useful to have two maintained implementations of the same ipld-prime codec.
