Local builds fail to find gtest/gmock. But, I see the snap is still being built and published to edge; so I'm not sure this is really needed, and how your builds are working :-)

Looking into logs it seems that snapcraft can update submodules just fine. Maybe you're using older versions of the tools locally that do not have this logic? Anyway, I don't see any downsides of this PR, if it improves situation for a subset of users, then great.
