Overview

The 'Mentor Research Project Roadmap' serves as the Epic GitHub issue/ Master document for all aspects pertaining to research of the Mentorship Program. This holds all the initial planning, progress and assets for Mentor Research TWE'22. It also creates a baseline for conceptualization, progress and future assessment.

Key Takeaways:

• Sara B and Aparna G did a mini-onboarding of sorts to assist Snigdha B and Angela D onto the Mentorship project, since it was their first meeting. We went through the GitHub issue, getting access, answering common Q&A regarding project etc.
• Sara B and Snigdha have paired up to work on all the Surveys
• Aparna G has completed Research Plan. Angela D will be reviewing this for any edits/updates/changes
• Aparna G and Angela D have paired up to work on Consent forms, Ethnography Interview Guide
• Linda has reached out regarding working on the Interview Guide: Exit interviews and will be working on it
• Sara B and Snigdha B will be embedding the Consent Forms within their Surveys
• We decided to have only one mentorship feedback survey for the interns at the end of their internship program. Since interns are already completing multiple surveys/interviews as part of the internship program, we did not want to overwhelm them with additional mentor surveys.
• Angela B and Aparna G are collecting Consent form resources for the other qualitative interviews, after which they will be drafting the template for the consent forms
• Will be reaching out to Christine O, UX Research Lead to set up a weekly meeting time/day for the UXR Mentorship team. As general consensus during this meeting that the UXR meeting team wanted a consistent time/day to meet.

Sara's Updates from 2022.06.27

• Reorganized the resource list on this issue.
• Combined post-onboarding mentor research plan and survey documents into one document.
• Finished writing the perceived challenges 5-point scale items in mentor post-onboarding survey that @sniux and I worked on last week.
• Updated RP8 Wiki with intern evaluation of mentor research plan.
• Had quick meeting with Bonnie and @Rabia2219 about parental consent changes that have been taking place. I learned that parents are going to received a "slimmed down" version of a research plan and survey questions so that they can give consent for their child to participate in the internship. This is why the file that was sent to Aparna and I over the weekend was located in the External Communication - Parent folder. All the Research Plans & Goals that are forward-facing to parents are housed here in the Wiki. All research plans used will follow the exact same template. The "Notes on All Research Plans" document that was created by Bonnie last week will be used for the volunteers and researchers working on the internship.
• Edited End-of-Week Intern Evaluation of Mentor RP and survey inside of External Communication - Parent folder, per Bonnie and Rabia's request.

Questions and/or Blockers

@christine-el and @Aparna1Gopal, please advise.

1. Bonnie said that she wants to have a mentor "open-house" to expand the number of mentors, but they have not yet been contacted. I created a mail merge for the ones who responded to the interest form, but I'm not sure if or when that will be used. See mail merge folder I helped prep for Bonnie last week.
2. Mentor onboarding slides must be completed before knowledge items of mentor post-onboarding survey can be finalized.
3. I am having a hard time organizing all of these research plans, wiki items, and GitHub issues.
   • Does the title of this issue "First Assessment Mentor" even make sense given that it's expanded into weekly surveys for interns, potential mentor interviews, etc.?
   • Is RP8 only for Mentor Interviews, as the wiki title suggests? Or can we change that to just anything pertaining to mentor research?
   • Where do the research plans, assets, and surveys go regarding the end-of-week intern surveys evaluating their mentors? This research assesses both mentors and interns simultaneously? Should a new RP on the wiki be created for it?
   • Is there a HfLA document naming guide? The multiple version numbers, depreciated identifiers, and acronyms are difficult for me to navigate.

To clean up this issue and create the complete documentation kit, the following steps have been completed pertaining to this issue:

• Cleaned-up Epic Issue: Reworked on naming Action Items with action verbs and direction of research and renaming items to 'Project Roadmap'
• Cleaned-up Epic Issue: Identifying and tagging all Research Plans (RP labels) related to this Project Roadmap
• Working on Project Roadmap Wiki (included the Consent section to the existing Mentor Research Overview Wiki) to keep the documentation kit complete
• Cross-checking all the resources listed on the Project Roadmap Wiki with this issue TWE: Create Roadmap for Mentor Research #208
• On the Wiki page, needed to add sections for Consent Forms and Research participant (Mentor) recruitment under All Mentor Research Assets. This will keep the documentation kit complete for Mentor Research
