Does uBO protect against fingerprinting?
uBO blocks some things related to privace/security, but it doesn't aim to be a full replacement of anti-fingerprint tools, most of related issues/discussions/feature requests to implement such functionality have been declined over years, with a headline message: "that it should be handled by separate dedicated tools":
- (08.2015) Please add option to block sites from tracking battery status
- (12.2015) Add plugin fingerprinting protection
- (03.2016) disable canvas fingerprinting in browser and console error in ublock
- (05.2016) Suggestion: Prevent AudioContext fingerprinting
- (06.2016) Suggestion: Canvas Defender
- (10.2016) Canvas - AudioContext - Battery API
- (02.2017) Disable media device fingerprinting
- (02.2017) Leverage Firefox's upcoming All-in-One Fingerprint resistance
- (10.2017) [Feature Request] Random OS Spoofing
- (06.2018) Option to block ETag tracking
- (06.2020) reduce fingerprint produced by uBlock Origin
- (09.2020) Does uBlock Origin protect against Canvas Fingerprints?
- (12.2020) Canvas Blocker - Browser Fingerprint Protection
- (05.2021) More uBlock Options
- (05.2024) Allow removing
Accept-CH
response headers
Hence there is no point in spamming the issue tracker by creating new duplicates over and over, discussion and sharing opinions should be continued in already existing threads, new threads will be labeled as invalid
or duplicate
and closed.
Though, after this big pile of requests over years, as a rare exception, the following 2 scriptlets have been recently implemented:
- (05.2023)
spoof-css
(related discussion: Scriptlet to spoof CSS property value ) - (09.2023)
prevent-canvas
