What is used to power the Raspberry Pi, which hub? |
Here are some more details: I was able to fit this https://a.co/d/7a829SF power strip behind the raspberry pi's on the bottom. The power adapters for the Dell boxes are to the right of the machines. Was able to cram all power to the area behind the pi's. Behind the router I have a 8 port switch, two of these TPLink/ Netgear ones fit perfectly in one rack back-to-back Got a NUC at the top and 5 Dell Optiplex running proxmox cluster. That being said, I would recommend at least 2.5 gig networking for the clustering to work nicely as it can get a bit slow on my 1 GB setup. 4 Raspberry Pi 5s are running k3s, that's been working really well. Comment if you have any questions! |
Would an additional 3070 sff fit in the last slot? |
Yes it would, but I'm using the extra space right to the 3070s for their power adapters. They'll have to go elsewhere if another Dell is fitted in there. Another small note, the rack is already a bit "curvy" under the weight of the 5 3070s. I suppose one more won't hurt but do keep in mind 👀 |
Hi,
Just wanted to post a fully contained 8U rack, only things that needs to be plugged in is mains power and WAN from your router/modem.
Feel free to ask me any questions regarding the build, it's working pretty nicely!
