This readme isn't markdown, its plain text, so you shouldn't put markdown markup :) in it. There is a readme.rst with markup, and thats what github renders.

I'm sorry, most GitHub projects use Markdown :) Feel free to change it, the idea was this

Fine by me. Actually, most or even all of the plugin READMEs, at the very least the one for SpellCheck, uses RestructuredText as markup. @dandv could you change the markup to RestructuredText (it's easy for such a small change) and also update the other affected READMEs:
