Updating 2.1.0 release branch with changes to fix/remove a difference to past module versions introduced by /will be introduced by #1175 (the dist/index.js file was created by a custom feature of TSDX, allowing the NPM module to ship both dev and prod versions of the build - treeshaking in a down stream build can then drop one or the other based on their env (NODE_ENV))
