I think the likely culprit of all this is GenericDialogPlus.addFileField() generating paths with multiple file separators. We'll have to investigate further. However in the long term it is likely more useful to just migrate the plugin to an IJ2 command, taking advantage of @parameters notation

(Temporary) Bugfix for issue fiji#27. With this, we're doing two things:
fbc42b4 
- Enable the OK button at all times, even if specified paths are tagged as invalid
- improve the detection of repeated file separators in specified file paths

This seems to have been fixed now with v3.1.5
